What is carbon footprint?
Carbon footprint is the sum of greenhouse gas emissions from a person, organization or product, expressed in CO2e. Thus, the carbon footprint measures how much greenhouse gases a particular product or service emits into the atmosphere. Emissions are calculated taking into account all emissions from the life cycle stages of the product or service, such as the manufacture of materials and the making of the product. Products can release a variety of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, such as methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide, each with a different ability to warm the atmosphere. These differences have been taken into account by calculating the global warming potential of each greenhouse gas in the same unit, ie carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).
The Carbon Radar carbon footprint database supports your purchasing decisions by providing carbon footprint data for more than 5,000,000 products. We are constantly developing the database.
